Rose-Colored Glasses for Star, Harpo
(Chicago Tribune) — Rosie O’Donnell watches “Season 25: ‘Oprah’ Behind the Scenes” — “which I freaking love,” she says — more closely than most. The cable series on the making of the final syndicated season of”The Oprah Winfrey Show” is the one program on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network that’s gained traction with viewers since the channel’s launch nearly three months ago. And it shows Winfrey’s Harpo Productions miracle workers in action. Team Harpo crisscrossed Australia during Winfrey’s visit there in Sunday’s OWN episode, dealing with last-minute detours, helicopter choreography, amorous koalas, hindsight, security nightmares and sundry other potential disasters that were somehow averted. Even when anchored within the walls of Winfrey’s Harpo Studios compound on Chicago’s Near West Side, “Behind the Show” heroically depicts Oprah’s army deftly dealing with daily hurdles, expected and otherwise, in the service of their star.
