Jada Pinkett Smith believes there is nothing her family can’t overcome because despite the glossy exterior of their public persona, the Smiths have privately wrestled with some serious obstacles.

While in London for a screening of her hit Facebook Watch series Red Table Talk on Thursday, Jada was asked by The Daily Mail if the things she shares on the show ever ruffle feathers at home. The 47-year-old said that’s never been the case because they’ve dealt with much more serious issues, like the time Will and Jada had Child Protective Services called on them.

“We’ve been through so much as a family, it takes a lot to rock us,” she said. “Once you’ve survived having child protection services come to your house because someone called and said, ‘You’re abusing Willow, you’re not feeding her…when you’ve gone through crazy stuff like that, whatever you’ve spoke about at the Red Table Talk, doesn’t mean anything, due to the storms you’ve survived off of that table [and being so open].”

While CPS looking into the family over Willow’s eating habits is news to us, there were rumors/reports in 2014 that the agency in Los Angeles was investigating them because of a picture that was taken of Willow, then 13, hanging out in a bed with friend Moises Arias, who was 20 at the time. The actor was shirtless and sitting on the top of the bed while Willow was lying near the end. Nothing seemed to be going on, but because of the age difference, Willow being a minor and the fact that he was shirtless, people had a lot to say about it.
