Cardi B And Bernie Sanders Link Up To Engage Young Voters With New Video
Rapper Cardi B made good on her promise to educate young voters after she sat down with presidential candidate Bernie Sanders to film an unreleased voter awareness project.
“Not me, US. Thank you Senator Bernie Sanders for sitting with me and sharing your plans on how you will change this country,” Cardi captioned a photo of their meeting.
The two discussed questions followers submitted to Cardi in hopes to have their concerns heard ahead of the Democratic presidential debate. Sanders and Cardi met at the TEN Nail bar, a Black owned business in Detroit, Michigan, where the debates are taking place.
“A couple of weeks ago I asked my followers if you had the opportunity to have a question answered by a democratic candidate what would it be ? I got a lot of submission and selected the most popular questions to get answered. Stay tuned to see how he will fight for economic, racial, and social justice for all. Together, let’s build a movement of young people to transform this country.LETS LEARN OUR CANDIDATES!”
Sanders echoed Cardi’s excitement in a social media post of his own.
“Today Cardi B and I finally met. We had a great conversation about the future of America. And let me tell you: Cardi B is right. Together, we’ll get millions of young people involved in the political process and transform this country.”
On Sunday Cardi B posted a second video suggested that it’s time for young voters to focus on the candidates and their solutions.
“Dear bloggers, dear YouTubers, dear influencers, we have the power to influence our youth, to get educated when it comes to our Democratic candidates,” Cardi began. “You see the Republicans, they are afraid to stand up to Trump because he might take their positions away from them. But the Democrats, they just don’t give a f–k.”
“And my thing is that we get distracted by people putting Trump on blast. Like CNN constantly putting Trump on blast with that illegal s–t the he can be doing in this country. Because he puts things on Twitter that distracts us from the bulls–t that he actually be doing. So instead of us posting the little bulls–t that he be posting on Twitter, why don’t we post every single day these positive things that the Democrats want to do for our country? This man has a big chance of winning in 2020 and we can change that,” she said.
Cardi has used her platform of over 48 million followers on multiple occasions to discuss the political climate. She’s taken on police brutality, the injustice in Puerto Rico after a series of devastating hurricanes, immigration and recently stepped in to defend Rep. Ilhan Omar from Trump’s racist attacks.
