One week after the president of the United States doubled down in racist rhetoric by proclaiming that four minority congresswomen (who are all American citizens) needed to go back to where they came from, Sen. Rand Paul offered a remixed effort to taunt Rep. Ilhan Omar.

Sen. Paul, who represents the great state of Kentucky, defended Trump’s remarks in an interview with Breitbart last Wednesday.

“While I’m not saying we forcibly send her anywhere, I’m willing to contribute to buy her a ticket to go visit Somalia, and I think she could look and maybe learn a little bit about the disaster that is Somalia – that has no capitalism, has no God-given rights guaranteed in a constitution, and has about seven different tribes that have been fighting each other for the last 40 years,” he said. ”And then, maybe after she’s visited Somalia for a while, she might come back and appreciate America more.”

The comments were made after Omar wrote an in-depth op-ed on Trump on why merely acknowledging his racism is not enough.

Now it was apparent that Rand Paul’s racism jumped all the way out of his body, if he had taken a little gumption to google, he would have seen that Rep. Omar, who hails from  Minnesota, has been a naturalized citizen for the majority of her life after immigrating to America from Somalia in 1992.

She is also well aware of her native country’s challenges, as she travels back and forth pretty regularly to visit. Paul went on to say that he’s met Somalian refugees from his district and they all seemed to be more gracious than Omar. Omar, he said, is “about as ungrateful as you can get.”

Rand Paul’s history has a large swath of darkness surrounding it being that he comes from and was one of the major voices of the Tea Party movement, which was a major proponent of birtherism. If you remember, those same people (including Trump) used similar language to convince themselves that President Barack Obama was not an American citizen.

Paul, we haven’t forgotten about your reputation, so take your ticket, your trash antics and find a seat.
