The Wimbledon champ will have to miss three WTA Tour games leading to the U.S. Open due to a foot injury. Scheduled to be in Istanbul, Cincinnati and Montreal the tour is the “world’s leading professional sport for women with over 2,200 players representing 96 nations competing for over $86 million in prize money.” Unfortunately the 28-year-old stepped on glass at a restaurant injuring her right foot and will need surgery.

“I’m so upset I won’t be able to play in the upcoming events because of this foot surgery,” Williams told the WTA Tour site. “Thank you for all of your support. I can’t wait to get back on the courts.”

While this sucks, maybe it will allow her more downtime, thus more of that freetime she never got with Common. Hey, can’t blame us for keeping hope alive.
