Pharrell Williams made sure to gift high school graduates from the Harlem section of New York with an opportunity to jumpstart their career.

During his commencement speech at Promise Academy,  he promised that every single graduating senior, 114 to be exact,  would be given an internship once they complete their first year of college.  Each graduating senior has been accepted to college and will be attending in the fall.

“So let me be clear, every member of the 2019 graduating class, is guaranteed an internship waiting for them, you, next summer,” he told the seniors.

He also shared words of encouragement and excitement for the next generation of Harlem visionaries.

“The world is watching Harlem, but this renaissance will be different,” Williams told the class of 2019. “Believe it or not, with respect, it’s going to actually be better and the reason why is because the new Harlem Renaissance has education at its core.” He added, “It’s one thing to be ‘woke,’ another to be awake, leaned in and engaged.”

Williams didn’t  reveal where the college-bound students will be interning next year.
