Evelyn Lozada and Chad Johnson made headlines back in 2012 after their short-lived marriage ended due to domestic violence. Even though Lozada left the marriage heartbroken and hospitalized, she said there are no hard feelings and she has “no ill will toward him.”

“I am cool with Chad,” the Basketball Wives star told the Page Six. “We don’t phone each other all the time, but if I see him I don’t have one ounce of hate in my heart for him.”

The mother-of-two said that she forgave Johnson because burying that anger would hurt her more than anyone else.

“You have to be able to forgive people because I feel if I am walking around angry, it takes away from the person that I want to be.”

The Bronx, NY native said she not only left Johnson for herself, but to also lead by example for her daughter.

“[It was] humiliating that my daughter saw me like that in the hospital… I never wanted her to think that this was OK. That is why I left [Johnson] — because I wanted to be an example for her.”

After the incident, pictures of Lozada with a bloody gash on her head surfaced from Johnson head-butting her during an argument. They had only been married for one month.

Johnson, known as Chad Ochocinco, was arrested by in August of 2012 and charged with domestic battery. After pleading no contest, he was put on one year of probation.
