Pro-Life and Profane: Abortion Ad Targets African-Americans

(Wall Street Journal) — A new billboard in SoHo that combines an antiabortion message with an image of a young black girl is coming under fire from some who say it stirs up fear and may be borderline racist.  The ad, located high above Watts Street and Sixth Avenue in Lower Manhattan, reads, “The most dangerous place for an African American is in the womb” near a picture of black girl wearing a sleeveless fuchsia sundress.

In a statement, African-American Pastor Stephen Broden, a board member of Life Always, the Texas-based antiabortion group that placed the ad on the billboard, said, “During Black History Month, we celebrate our history, but our future is in jeopardy as a genocidal plot is carried out through abortion.”
