The family reunion is a staple for Black families across the diaspora. In fact, Black people have even been traveling back to Ghana to mark 400 years since slaves were first taken from West African coasts. It’s a fixture.

A new Netflix series seeks to capture the spirit of the family reunion. The streaming service recently debuted the trailer for the new Meg DeLoatch show, which stars Loretta Devine, Richard Roundtree and Tia Mowry-Hardrict.

The description for the series is as follows:

“When the McKellan family moves from Seattle to Georgia to be closer to extended family, the transition is like being a catfish out of water. From 3 hour church services and huge humidity hair to M’Dear’s home cooking and family bonding, the everyday ups and downs of Family Reunion are real, memorable, toe tapping, heart stopping, laugh out loud authentic moments.”
