A Grades Are Abundant for NYC Restaurants

(Wall Street Journal) — The majority of New York City restaurants are earning As under a controversial letter-grading system that took effect last year.  According to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s six-month analysis, 57.2 % of restaurants have earned As under the grading system, 30.2% received Bs and 12.7% got Cs, the lowest grade. The results exceed the department’s most optimistic expectations, which projected that only 40% of restaurants would earn As in the first year of implementation.
