When Remy Ma was released from prison after serving six years, the hip-hop world welcomed the femcee home with open arms and she vowed to stay on the straight and narrow and never return to prison again. Almost five years after being released, it looks like Remy has had another brush with the law.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Remy Ma and her Love & Hip-Hop New York castmate Brittney Taylor had a physical altercation at Irving Plaza during a Fat Joe charity concert. Taylor revealed the black eye Remy gave her via Instagram and now she is taking legal action.
Taylor told the New York Daily News that the “Melanin Magic” rapper punched her due to a misunderstanding over Remy’s stepdaughter and Papoose’s daughter Dejenae. Taylor said she helped Dejenae in a moment of distress during spring break in Miami and when she told Remy that, things got physical.
“What happened with me and Dej in Miami is I saved her—I saved her life, and [Remy] got aggressive,” she said. “She was like, ‘That’s not what I heard,’ and she punched me in the face.”
Taylor’s lawyer Sanford Rubenstein confirmed that an investigation is being conducted.
“Brittney Taylor is cooperating fully with the NYPD criminal probe,” Rubenstein told the NY Daily News. “We are calling on any witnesses who saw what happened or have video of what happened to come forward.”
When Taylor made her debut on Love & Hip-Hop New York on season eight, she had conflict with a few of her cast members, including Mariah Lynn and Bianca Bonnie. Despite her portrayal on the VH1 reality show, she feels what Remy did was shameful.
“I just don’t feel like it’s okay for people to put their hands on someone that’s not being malicious to them, that’s being genuine,” she said.
