By the looks of it, Issa Rae and Marsai Martin are old girlfriends who’ve shared many experiences and secrets during the many years of their friendship. However, the unlikely duo only recently met, but their chemistry in the Will Packer produced “Little” is undeniable.
It’s hard to believe the ladies only met a few times in passing and spoke once or twice. But it doesn’t seem like it was hard for the two to bond. “Marsai is great about getting to know each other. She has these hilarious questions that she’ll ask to get to know you and gauge your interest. There are a lot of ‘would you rather’ questions, ‘what would you do if…’” Issa Rae told us during a candid chat.
According to Will Packer, Marsai was also the mastermind behind the concept of “Little,” obviously borrowing from the cult classic “Big.” After Marsai pitched the funny flick, Will reached out to Tina Gordon to help him tweak the script and eventually asked her to direct the film.
“That’s when the panic set in,” Tina revealed. “I just woman’d up,” she added. Regina Hall spoke to what it was like working with a Black woman director, noting Gordon’s flexibility while filming.
“She has a lightheartedness herself.” She said. “There was a real openness about her energy and it really made it feel like a collaborative process.”
