As much as he tries to pretend like he’s not, Future is a sensitive soul. He just goes about expressing his emotions in a very problematic way. He’s good for deflecting, lashing out or pretending he’s not hurt when he so clearly is.

And it seems that his penchant for treating women as disposal objects, while helpful for his rap persona, doesn’t really work in terms of his real life.

The truth is, if you’re not good to people, when you find that you need someone, they’ll be hard to find. And that’s what Future found in the midst of his latest struggle. In a recent Instagram story, he said:

“I don’t need anymore fake friends. I’m good. Nope. Fake friends not for me.

This entire week has been madness. No one checked on me. My kids’ mother, I take care of them great the ones I got love for. I say this to say that, if you don’t give someone something or they ain’t thinking about what they can get, they not gon’ call you.

I do things out of the greatness of my heart. I might not be perfect but I make sure everybody good. Every one is good around me.

Just know I’m happy with life, like I’m super happy. I just want y’all to know how people are, man. Not just them but everyone. They only think about theyself and what they can get from you.

Soon as you die, muhf*ckas gon be crying about who love you the most. That shit cap, straight up. I don’t want no fake love.”

When Future and quite a few other men need to realize is that material posessions and emotional support are two different things. And just because you’ve taken care of someone with money and posessions, it doesn’t mean that you’ve done right by them. And I think Future knows that. I’m willing to bet that there was a time when they were willing to show up for him emotionally but since he didn’t appreciate it then or took advantage, they’re not willing to do the same now.

In the words of Alicia Keys, it’s called karma baby, and it goes around.
