Gabrielle Union & Dwyane Wade Are Each Other’s Competition — And Motivation — In First Campaign Together For Gatorade
We knew Gabrielle Union and husband Dwyane Wade didn’t play any games when it came to their fitness after they celebrated their anniversary in late August by hitting the Heart and Hustle gym in Los Angeles. Despite the fact that Wade is a championship-winning NBA star who’s been in the league since 2003, Union had absolutely no trouble keeping up, if not outdoing her partner at times.
Well, the couple confirmed once again that they love a good workout, and healthy competition as well, by starring in a pretty cute commercial together for Gatorade. It’s their first campaign as a pair and they’re promoting a new product in Gatorade Zero. The drink, which has no sugar and is full of electrolytes, comes in handy for those who like to do shorter, lower intensity workouts and seek “greater personalization for their hydration and fueling needs.” The drink comes in the usual variety of Gatorade flavors (Orange, Lemon-Lime, Glacier Cherry, Glacier Freeze and Berry) and is available now.
The couple show off the drink and the rehydrating effects of it while going head-to-head in the :30 second spot. They engage in an exercise battle to prove who goes the hardest in everything from cycling and running, to strength training, push-ups, jump rope, strength training, basketball and more. While it’s obviously super cute to see these two in their element, it’s also a great push for anybody to get up and go hard (or intermediate, whatever works for you) in the gym, too.
This isn’t the first time the 46-year-old has proven that her husband, 37, keeps her motivated (and vice versa), even when they’re not in the gym.
“He motivates me,” she told Entertainment Tonight in 2017. “I married a guy almost 10 years younger than me, and I assumed I would be the teacher, and here I am the pupil learning and being motivated by his work ethic…He inspires me.”
