Mary Jane Seems To Be Back To Her Old Bulls–t In Extended Being Mary Jane Finale Trailer
BET has released an extended trailer for the finale of Being Mary Jane, and it looks like Gabrielle Union’s character of Mary Jane Paul is back to some of her old self-sabotaging shenanigans.
As previously mentioned, where we last left off in 2017, Mary Jane Paul made the rash decision to use a sperm donor to get pregnant after she thought Justin (played by Michael Ealy) ditched her for good. Justin was upset that she had chosen Kara (played by Lisa Vidal) for the executive producer position at Great Day USA, which he was also up for, and because of that, he went ghost on her for a short time. Despite his temporary disappearance, during the Season 4 finale, Justin shocked everyone by popping up at Mary Jane’s place out of nowhere, post-insemination (unbeknownst to him), to pop the question. She didn’t say yes or no, and that’s how the season ended.
The last teaser that the network put out in February showed her in a wedding dress, on her wedding day, ready to take the big leap she had always wanted to. We were excited that it seemed she would finally get the happy ending she wanted. However, in the newest trailer, it looks as though things didn’t work out between she and Justin, and that she’s moved on to someone new — Morris Chestnut of all people.
Mary Jane and Justin seem to have a disagreement over that whole sperm donor issue after she hands him a pregnancy test in the trailer, and from there, it looks like they end up calling it quits. From there, a seemingly newly natural Mary Jane links up with Chestnut’s character, they get pretty serious, and he even proposes, Still, something or someone, that is, gets in the way:
Union, who has already moved on to shoot the Bad Boys spinoff to Charter Communications’ LA’s Finest, shared the trailer on her social media with the caption, “It’s coming yall. Get ready for April 16th, it’s 🔥.”
I’m interested to see what specifically seems to get in the way of Mary Jane and Justin’s happily ever after, and if, per the usual, it’s Mary Jane, herself. We’ll find out how the story ends when the two-hour finale film premieres April 16 on BET at 9/8c.
