When I saw Kodak Black’s face come up on “The Shade Room,” I kept scrolling because I knew nothing good usually comes from that man sharing his opinion. And I was right. Still, these particular comments are worth discussing because the minute the rapper previews the beat to his latest single, people forget all about his foolishness.

You may recall that in 2017, Black made headlines for saying. “I don’t really like Black girls like that.” The comments echo the lyrics in his song, “Where them yellow bones?/I don’t want no Black b*tch/ I’m already Black/ Don’t need no Black b*tch.”

It was sad.

Then, the rapper was accused of raping a teenage girl. The teen said she was forced into a room and penetrated against her will. The accusations could be enough to damage anyone’s reputation. But Black didn’t seem to take too much of a hit. But he exacerbated matters, when he sat down on Hot 97 and then promptly got up when they merely mentioned his accusations.

Given Black’s lyrical content and the thoughts he expresses on social media, it was a question he should have addressed. Because apparently, he’s still sharing rapey sentiments.

In one of his songs, the rapper said, “I’m f*cking Young MA as long as she got a coochie.”

There are several issues here. As a man accused of rape, Young MA will need more than an coochie in order for Black to have sex with her. He would need her permission. And being that she is a lesbian, that’s highly unlikely.

Young MA, who is also a rapper, responded to Black’s lyrics on an Instagram Live video.

“Y’all keep talking about the Kodak situation, bro. Y’all n*ggas is weird, bro. It be n*ggas on that sh*t. Y’all n*ggas is alight? Obviously the n*gga is weird. Obviously he on some sh*t, bro.”

In another video she said, “I know I’m a female, stupid. I know that, n*gga. But at the end of the day, n*gga. That’s not my preference.”

She said she would be seeing him at and event and she would approach him in person. I don’t know if that particular meet and greet ever happened because instead of handling their issues in person, Kodak also got on Instagram Live to respond.

And instead of doing something radical like apologizing for his comments or

“How you a girl but don’t want your pussy penetrated? How? Don’t be mad at me because I want you, baby. Don’t me bad at me cuz I want you.”

Sir.

This sounds like rapist 101. Just because you want someone doesn’t mean you have the right to their body parts. He’s removing all of her agency in expressing his desires. She doesn’t like men. And even if she did…the chances that Kodak Black would be her type is slim to none.

He gotta go.

Yet there are far too many people, men and women alike, who don’t see these types of comments as problematic as they really are. There are men who are saying he’s just expressing his desires. But it’s more than that. This is a man who doesn’t understand or value consent. And there are sect of men who believe that having sex with lesbians will somehow “convert” them.

Weird was the least she could have said about him.

He gotta go.
