Kanye West Has Been Hosting Sunday Church Services At His Home
There have been clips of a church choir singing renditions of Kanye West’s ‘Lift Off” and “Jesus Walks” with Yeezy himself leading the pack as the director. However, there were no details about where these clips came from and when Ye’ switched over to being a choir director. It turns out that Kanye has been holding Sunday church service at his home every weekend since the beginning of 2019.
According to Essence, the services are star-studded with folks like Charlie Wilson, David Letterman and Kid Cudi in attendance. These services may possibly be apart of his strategy to promote his upcoming album, Yandhi, but that hasn’t been confirmed.
In the clips, the choir can be heard doing gospel mixes of some of Kanye’s songs like “Beautiful Morning” and “Father Stretch My Hands.”
Since he is wrapped up in legal problems with EMI, the release of this album may be on hold. The Chi-town rep filed a lawsuit against EMI and Roc-A-Fella Records because their contract was longer than seven years and he felt that violated his personal service terms. EMI has also sued him for breach of contract. In February, Yeezy was also sued by the family of the 4-year-old girl whose voice can be heard at the beginning of “Ultralight Beam” from his 2016 album Life Of Pablo. The video of the little girl, named Natalie Green, preaching had went viral that same year the album was released. Green’s family said they never received the compensation they were promised for use of the audio from the video.
