Last month, there was news that Bow Wow and his girlfriend Kiyomi Leslie had gotten into a physical altercation with one another. Before we saw anything, everyone assumed that Bow Wow was the aggressor. Because that’s generally the way things go. And given Bow Wow’s antics as of late, it didn’t seem so far fetched. Then, pictures of Bow Wow’s mugshot surfaced. And his face was all scratched up.

Hot 107.9 host: When the picture came out with the scraps on your face, people almost made a joke about it. When the headlines first came out, people were saying you were blaming you. It’s your face scratched up and she looked pretty much ok. How did you feel about the reaction to it?

I didn’t feel no type of way at all. And I was just telling somebody else this too. Once the photo came out of me, and they saw the two and compared it, that’s when everything switched. I actually saw a lot of men fighting for me, saying, ‘If that was me, it would have been a different situation. For him to carry it out the way he carried it out, you gotta respect that.’ I had a comedy roast in Atlanta and every comedian said, ‘You better than me. Because for you to look like that…’

It’s not [a joking matter.]

Nick Young posted something saying because it’s reversed, it’s man that’s scratched up, the news kind of died two days after. If it was [a woman] we’d still be on Bow Wow as far as mad at him, dogging him, banning him, bashing him, take his music off the playlist.

So I was always cool. You just have to understand the era that we live in. You look at the R. Kelly interview. It got spoofed so many times. You have to understand that people are going to always find the joke in something. But like I said, if the roles were reversed, the energy would be totally different to what it is now. I saw somebody say, it’s the man, it’s different. He can take it.

I took it like that and it was what it was.

Bow Wow is right. We didn’t take the scratches on his face seriously. But the host made a mistake in not bringing up the fact that Bow Wow was exhibiting some very aggressive, threatening and intimidating behavior in the elevator before the two were alone together.

Bow Wow may have been the one to walk away with scratches, but based on his behavior in the elevator, there’s a chance that there’s more to this story than these scratches
