When you hear the term “healthy eating,” you likely immediately check out, thinking about all the things you’re suddenly not going to be able to eat. But improving your diet isn’t always about not eating something, sometimes it’s just a matter of eating less of certain things.

To help us better wrap our minds around a heart healthy diet, we asked celebrity chef Lex Grant of Eat Me Up Cusine to break down portion control for us and offer some tips on avoiding overeating — the biggest of which, she shared, is giving yourself time to rest while eating so that food actually reaches your stomach and you recognize when you’re full.
