Kevin Garnett Wants To Skip Out On Paying Spousal Support
Former NBA star Kevin Garnett is embroiled in what seems to be a bitter divorce proceeding between his estranged wife, Brandi Padilla.
Though he’s acquired at least $300 million during his time as a professional athlete, Garnett has asked the court to alleviate him from paying any spousal support, according to The Blast. In so many words, Garnett wants to hold onto his coins…all of them.
Padilla shocked many when she filed for divorce in July after 14 years of marriage. At the time she asked the court for physical custody of the of the couple’s two children and spousal support.
On Monday Kevin responded to Brandi’s inquiry, asking the judge to terminate the spousal request while also petitioning for joint custody of the children. As for the the official cause of their divorce, the couple listed “irreconcilable differences” and also “TBD” as the official date of separation.
Prior to their separation, the couple went through a long courtship, dating for years before they tied the knot in a private ceremony in California in 2004. Prior to their divorce announcement the couple remained relatively private, keeping their relationship out of the spotlight.
Hopefully the two can come to a comprise that will appear the both of them as they wade through the waters of a difficult breakup.
