The only President and First Lady we acknowledge just wished each other the sweetest Valentine’s Day message. Barack & Michelle Obama have been the patron saints of Black love since they walked through the White House doors in 2009.

Since their first year in office, the American public was blessed with numerous displays of public affection from the pair, putting Black love on top and inspiring us all to love each other a little more loudly.

So it comes as no surprise that the couple took the time on Valentine’s Day to exchange sweet messages to one another.

“Happy Valentine’s Day to the extraordinarily smart, beautiful, funny, one and only @MichelleObama,” The president wrote on IG.

Adding, in reference to her recent Grammy’s performance, “It’s true; she does get down to Motown.”

Michelle also posted a message, but instead of just noting Barack, she acknowledged the two daughters they share as well.

“So lucky to call these three my valentines for all these years. 💕” she penned.

Michelle recently opened up about her proposal in her best selling autobiography, Becoming.

Instead of a typical proposal, Barack began by starting a fight with his wife-to-be.

“As we were reaching the end of the meal, Barack smiled at me and raised the subject of marriage. He reached for my hand and said that as much as he loved me with his whole being, he still didn’t really see the point,” Michelle Obama wrote in her book.

“Instantly, I felt the blood rise in my cheeks. It was like pushing a button in me — the kind of big blinking red button you might find in some sort of nuclear facility surrounded by warnings signs and evacuation maps. Really? We were going to do this now?”

In the middle of quarreling, Barack managed to render his bride speechless.

“Eventually, our waiter came around holding a dessert plate, covered by a silver lid. He slid it in front of me and lifted the cover. I was almost too miffed to even look down, but when I did, I saw a dark velvet box where the chocolate cake was supposed to be. Inside was a diamond ring,” Obama said.

Romance at its finest.
