In the midst of last weekend’s Superbowl festivities, a Super bold celebration just for women took place at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta February 2. There, the SuperBOLD Empowerment Brunch crafted by Nicole R. Coleman honored Black women who are making huge impacts in their respective industries and their communities.
This year’s honorees included actress Keshia Knight Pulliam; leadership and personal development coach Jovian Zayne; The Lip Bar Founder Melissa Butler; visual artist Melissa A. Mitchell; and entrepreneur and media maven Sybil Amuti. The 2019 “SuperBOLD Woman of the Year” award was presented posthumously to Tomara Johnson Thompson.
“I like to connect people; that is really a passion inside of me,” Coleman told MadameNoire prior to the event. “I love to host. I love to celebrate women who are achievers, and I love to help inspire women to follow their passion. This event combines all of these things.”
During the brunch, former NFL pro Stevie Baggs, Jr. led a candid talk on women’s health and wellness with special guests Dr. Jackie Walters of Bravo TV’s Married to Medicine and Janell Stephens, Founder of Camille Rose.
