At 48-years-old, Naomi Campbell is undoubtedly one of the most sought after models in the industry, with a career spanning decades. An activist, she constantly works to improve the lives of children in sub-Saharan Africa. A model, she has stunned on multiple covers…this year alone…and it’s only February. She’s also an influencer, not just because of her fame, but also because of her experience. This experience landed her the role of contributing editor of British Vogue, in 2018. Now Naomi Campbell is taking her talents to an interesting space…hotels.
The supermodel is starring in a campaign video to help launch Equinox Hotels (yes, y’all, Equinox is going beyond their high-end gym membership). In a post to Instagram, Equinox revealed a still shot of the video featuring Naomi in a ballet type pose and stated, “It’s time to push the boundaries of your full potential. #EquinoxHotels is For Those Who Want It All.” The film is from Nick Knight’s SHOWstudio and the purpose is to represent the brands’ “high-performance living.” Knight further explained to WWD, “When I think of Equinox the brand, and specifically the hotel, I think about pushing human experience and pushing boundaries, testing limits. Who better to represent this than Naomi Campbell? I wanted Naomi to have something to push against. A virtual version of herself and all that makes Naomi, Naomi.”
The complete video is 3:24 minutes long, but Equinox posted a one minute clip to Instagram. Campbell is seen boxing, then eating fruit, then sleeping fabulously like one would only imagine how a supermodel would sleep before rising and twirling to excellence.
Equinox also posted a boomerang of Campbell in a glass room, wearing an all-white outfit, looking angelic and airy. Campbell revealed, “I’ve been a longtime admirer of Equinox and how they have set up their brand as a lifestyle with immense attention to detail. This is something I can certainly identify with and was proud to be a part of. Hotels are an obvious extension of this brand.”
The first hotel will open in Hudson Yards, in New York City, in June 2019. Would you stay at an Equinox gym? Sound off in the comments.
