If you’ve been watching this season of Real Housewives of Atlanta, you know that Ronnie and Shamari DeVoe have had their share of marital ups and downs, but it seems the couple’s relationship was off to a rocky start from the beginning. When the pair came by the office, we asked each of them when they knew the other was “the one,” and while Shamari said she knew “that first night,” it took Ronnie a little bit longer — three years longer.
“Shamari was amazing from the start, but I was kicking and screaming for probably the first two-and-a-half, three years of our relationship,” the New Edition star told us. “We were together just about all the time, but the commitment thing, that word is really strong for me. I’m in the industry and guys will say just about anything to get in a woman’s panties and you know, for me, telling somebody you love them or what have you, that just wasn’t my cup of tea. So I’m like, if you want to hang out with me and play a little bit of house without me jumping in…before I commit then cool. But, ultimately, she gave me an ultimatum about three years into our relationship and I had to really just process that and look at our history and our past and just see she was there for me ultimately, and I was like, I gotta reward that.”
Nearly 18 years later, would Shamari say that reward paid off? Check out our complete chat with the couple in the video above and let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
