The Golden State Warriors Visit D.C. Again Bypassing White House To Hang Out With Obamas
The Golden State Warriors made another trip to the East Coast recently and indulged in some activities off the court and in the Nation’s Capital. After pulling in a victory over the Washington Wizards, the team decided to pay a visit to former President Barack Obama.
PEOPLE reports the picture was posted with the team being all smiles with Barry O. by a member of the Wizards staff, but then taken down. The team won the NBA Finals last year and per tradition were invited to visit the White House to engage with the current president, Donald Trump. Point Guard, Stephen Curry was extremely vocal about his lack of support for the Commander-In-Chief and declined the invite and with full support of his teammates and coaches. Before the team had yet to come to an official decision on the visit, once Trump got wind of Curry’s feelings he of course ran to Twitter to power trip and withdraw the invitation:
“Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team. Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!”
The team had visited the White House in 2016 after winning the championships, when their presidential bestie was still a resident. However we get the feeling that Curry along with his Warrior squad isn’t pressed to visit the new occupants and the group used the recent trip to D.C. to catch up with their old friend who has even sat down for a friendly game of Connect 4 with Curry in the past. For their official victory visit to D.C. last March, the team kept on pushing past 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. and took local schoolchildren to the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
This team’s shade brings a whole new meaning to the question, “Who all gon’ be there?” How much you want to bet Trump disregards his whole government shutdown/border wall debacle just to get butt hurt on Twitter that the Warriors didn’t stop by to chill and eat double cheeseburgers?
