One question. Why do men sit around pontificating on what women do what with their hair? Earlier this week rapper Meek Mill thought we wanted to know his hot take on lace front wigs. Twitter dragged him back to Philly and in the end, he tried to pass off his faux faux as a joke.

Now here we are, just a few days later and ex-resident peach holder, Peter Thomas felt the need to give his critique on Black women–dark-skinned women in particular who wear Blonde wigs.

“Yo I’mma say some s–t and I’ll probably get a lot of flack for it, but I just drove by and saw something I gotta comment on,” he said. “I love women, love Black women, oh my god I love y’all. But I also love Black women to wear their natural hair. If you want to process it, if you want to iron it, if you want to add extension to it, I’m all good with all of that. But ya’ll gotta know that everything is not for everybody.”

“I don’t like to see people, darker than me, black as fuck as me, ok. A woman, ok, wearing blonde hair, or honey blonde hair–and it’s not even done right. It’s just crazy,” he continued. “Cause it look like you’re wearing a f—-d up hat. And when you’re walking around with that, and other people them that’s your s—t, see y’all, you got know that they’re laughing at ya’ll motherf—–s, and I’m not even trying to be mean.”

First of all Peter Thomas, if you really loved Black women, you would keep this to yourself. And while everyone is allowed to have opinions, this is rooted in anti-blackness and is deliberately aimed at women who you feel are unpleasing to your eye.

In a week where Black women already feel devalued and depleted from arguing with R. Kelly defenders on the internet, this is really the last thing we needed to see.

The power structure that lets men assume that everyone needs to hear their opinion, especially their thoughts on women, is tired and in 2019 Black women will keep clapping back at the foolishness. You will get retired. Be prepared.
