Wendy Williams Postpones Return To Talk Show For Another Week
Wendy Williams has postponed the return to her beloved talk show back another week.
According to Variety, Williams is still said to be recovering from an injury she suffered last month—which caused her to show up to work in an arm sling.
The distributor and producer of her show confirmed that she will begin taping the show again on January 21, a week after the January 14 date that was originally announced.
The show has been in reruns since December 24 and will begin airing new episodes on January 14, with a panel of “Hot Talkers” hosting in Williams’ absence.
Co-presidents of Debmar-Mercury, the producer of “The Wendy Williams Show,” issued this statement of support.
“As she has for the past 10 years, Wendy delivers an incomparable live talk show day in and day out and we want to give her the best opportunity to heal and recover,” Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein said. “Wendy has our complete and unwavering support and we look forward to her return to the iconic purple chair.”
Williams claimed to have suffered an upper arm injury which caused her to miss work on December 17. She returned to work the following day but her appearance was met with criticism and concern as she was slurring her words during the segments.
Williams apologized for her performance afterward saying she’d taken medication to manage the pain of her hairline fracture, which resulted in her slurred speech.
The panelists for the show, which is in its 10th season, will be revealed on Monday.
