Chicago Rapper Cupcakke Admitted To Hospital After Sending Tweet About Suicide
On Tuesday, fans of rapper Cupcakke were alerted to her Twitter page after she posted a deeply startling tweet.
“I’m about to commit suicide,” the Chicago MC whose real name is Elizabeth Harris, shared to her thousands of followers.
She then followed her message with a few cryptic tweet aimed at surviving abuse. “The first sign you get of someone abusive, your run for good and never turn back,” she wrote.
Several people sprang into action to aid Cupcakke, who was obviously in the throes of a darkness.
Comedian Elijah Daniel, one of the rapper’s fans and social media supporters, immediately contacted the Chicago Police Department for a wellness check.
He later informed fans Cupcakke was discovered and taken to the hospital, while also letting fans know he did not have more information due to privacy constraints.
Since being admitted, several stars have rallied around Cupcake, rooting for her to find peace in her mental health journey. Among those supporters were fellow performers Charli Charli XCX and Iggy Azalea.
“Cupcakke please read this,” XCX wrote. “You have taught me and so many others so much about being ourselves, embracing exactly who we are and being proud of where we come from.”
She posted a message on Instagram to express gratitude for the love that surrounded her during this difficult time.
“Thank you for everything y’all have done for me I really appreciate it,” she wrote.
