In Case You Were Wondering, Tamar Braxton Explains What Happened To That Talk Show Of Hers
Just days after it was revealed in 2016 that she had been fired from The Real, it was announced that Tamar Braxton would get her own talk show. She had signed a deal with Steve Harvey to have him produce a new talk show for her, and she was set to bounce back from the setback better than ever. Harvey announced the good news on his radio show and she called it an AMAZING opportunity.

… But when GOD has a RAM in the bush❣thanks so much to my dear friend @iamsteveharveytv @marjorie_harvey Gerald, my baby Vince for such an AMAZING opportunity. I love u guys and can't WAIT for what is to come❣ #iaintsorry✌🏼 seriously.. When one door closes another one opens #bestontv #tamartianTv😩💦
But a year went by and there was no talk or sign of a talk show. However, Braxton reassured everyone that it was still on the way.
“It’s going to be amazing, and we’re still working out a lot of the details about what it’s going to be about and what’s going to happen,” she told ESSENCE in 2017. “But it’s definitely going to happen.”
She was supposed to have the last laugh, the formerly dismissed host getting to shine front and center on her own program. But two years later, the talk show situation (or lack thereof) left the 41-year-old doing anything but laughing. In fact, she said in a new interview with SoulBounce that a bad contract that halted the progress of her show’s development left her almost in “a deep depression.” She appeared on a few episodes of The Steve Harvey Show to share her opinion on relationship topics, but that’s about all she was able to do on the small screen since 2016.
“Like I said before, a lot of people thought that after The Real I wasn’t able to get a job in television, but that was just simply not true,” she said. “I was contractually obligated to not be on television and it was really hard for me as a matter of fact. It almost sent me into a deep depression because I really, really loved my job and loved what I did. And I had a lot of opportunities. As a matter of fact, I had three different talk shows that was available for me to do and had to turn them all down because of those contractual obligations, but that has changed. Look at God! Thank God. God and the universe are still smiling down on me and I’m able to do a bunch of television shows that I haven’t been able to do, so those are all coming out next year, and I can’t tell you ‘cause I’m gonna get in trouble! I just got my freedom! I can’t tell you.”
While Braxton’s exit from The Real wasn’t the smoothest, surprisingly, a return to the show as a guest isn’t completely out of the question. During a visit to Watch What Happens Live in October, when asked if she would ever go back, Tamar answered “I don’t know.” While we wait on this talk show of hers to pan out, maybe we can hold out hope that there will be a positive reunion for the ladies, albeit brief.
