(Progress Illinois) — Many of the recent news reports about Chicago’s still-forming mayoral race have focused on how U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez’s decision to stay in Congress will affect the Latino vote and remaining Latino candidates in next year’s mayoral contest. But black public officials in the city are also organizing for the race. City Council’s Black Caucus, through a group called the Chicago Coalition for Mayor (CCM), is still seeking a consensus candidate. The group has narrowed down its list of finalists to four, according to a new piece by Hunter Clauss for AustinTalks.org, a site that covers Chicago’s Austin neighborhood.
