(Crain’s) — In the face of growing concern over improperly-signed affidavits, the New York state Banking Department has asked more than 20 mortgage servicers registered to do business in the state to suspend foreclosure actions until they conduct internal reviews of their practices.  In a letter to the 20 servicers, Director of Consumer Protection Jane Azia asked the banks to report the findings of their review to the Banking Department by Oct. 22.
