(Politic365) – The ACLU of Maryland and the state NAACP recently teamed up to investigate alleged voter irregularities in Somerset County, as well as the lack of African American representation in county government and other local jurisdictions. Despite the high proportion of Black residents in the county, near 40 percent, the Somerset County branch of the NAACP raised concerns earlier this summer that specific municipalities, particularly the city of Crisfield, had actively intimidated or discouraged Black voters from participating in recent elections.
