(AJC) — Georgia is one of the many states that will launch an investigation into the foreclosure practices in the mortgage lending industry, Georgia Attorney General Thurbert Baker’s office confirmed Tuesday.  A detailed announcement is expected Wednesday by the Iowa attorney general’s office, which is heading up the massive effort, according to a spokesman in Baker’s office. Recently Ally Financial’s GMAC mortgage unit, Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase and PNC suspended foreclosure auctions and evictions in 23 states after evidence surfaced that bank employees falsely swore they had personal knowledge of a particular case. Ally and Bank of America have gone a step further and suspended foreclosure sales and evictions in all 50 states.
