White Man Allegedly Pulled A Gun On Black Muslim Teens At A Minnesota McDonald’s
I don’t think we’re under any illusions that Black children are safe from the clutches of racism. We’ve seen it time and time again from Emmett Till to Trayvon Martin, Jordan Davis, Reneisha McBride and many others.
Still, there is always something soul-jarring about watching adults threaten bodily harm to children and teenagers.
According to the Huffington Post, police are investigating one such incident at a Minnesota McDonald’s where a White man pulled a gun out on a group of Muslim teenagers on Monday night.
In the videos that have been uploaded to the internet, you can hear some of the teens yelling, “He has a gun!” as they run from the man near the doorway of the restaurant.
What makes this situation even worse is that after all of this commotion, a McDonald’s employee orders the teens out of her store. When they tell the woman the man outside had a gun, she said she didn’t f*cking care.
McDonald’s Employee: “I want everybody out NOW!”
The teens: “He has a gun.”
McDonald’s employee: “I understand that. I want everyone out of my store now!”
Teens: “He has a gun!”
McDonald’s Employee: “I don’t give a f*ck. I want everyone out of my store now.”
Thankfully, another man who was in the McDonald’s stepped in.
“Don’t send them out there when the dude just pulled a fucking gun on them. You better call the fucking cops, is what you gotta do…So they can get shot by some crazy person? Damn!”
Then the employee storms off.
Another McDonald’s employee told the teens that the man pulled out a gun “for a reason.”
Yesterday, the Eden Prairie Police Department said that it was investigating the incident.
In a statement, they said, “Arriving officers located several juveniles inside the restaurant. Witnesses reported a verbal altercation between an adult male and a juvenile male, during which the adult male reportedly displayed a gun before leaving the scene.”
One of the teenagers at the McDonald’s, Farida Osman, told Muslim Girl, that her friend was trying to use Apple Pay to purchase their food when the man started making racist remarks.
“Jihan heard the man say, ’You’re probably using EBT [Electronic Benefit Transfer—a debit card where welfare benefits can be placed.] And she immediately turned to him and said, ‘Just because I’m black, doesn’t mean I use EBT.’”
When the teens confronted the man, he became more and more hostile, before he, according to the teens, pulled his firearm.
One of the teens captured video of the man before he pulled his gun and left the store.
To date, McDonald’s has yet to publicly comment on the incident.
