Here’s What A Year Of Marriage Looks Like For Serena Williams And Alexis Ohanian
On November 16, 2017, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Serena Williams wed her love, Alexis Ohanian, in front of their famous friends and family. The year since they said “I do” for Serena, professionally, has been filled with ups and downs. She returned to tennis after welcoming their daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian, but has struggled to win a title in her return and unexpectedly been in the middle of some major controversies (a ban on her Nike catsuit and being fined for her verbal disagreement with an umpire at the U.S. Open). But the one thing that has been constant is her personal life. The love and support of her husband, who has publicly defended and uplifted her in so many ways, has been refreshing to see. He’s had no issues with taking a backseat to his superstar wife, calling their marriage an opportunity for him to have “a front row seat to greatness.”
“I really thought I was like the hardest working person I knew,” he said. “I thought tech was the hardest working industry. Our businesses are open 24/7 and, of course, we’re always working and grinding. But then I started talking to her and then realised, very quickly, just how wrong I was.”
As they make it to one year of marriage today, Alexis has continued to shower his lady with love for the world to see, celebrating Serena after a year of love with a very sweet anniversary message:
“365 days later. And still dancing. Only now Jr. Joins in,” he wrote. “Happy anniversary, my queen. Here’s to many, many more.”
They have proven themselves to be one of our favorite couples because they are so genuine and look like they’re honestly having fun with one another. That’s probably why the year went by so fast. Check out what a year of love looks like for Serena and Alexis.

We clearly don't take enough family portraits. This one's from the honeymoon. @olympiaohanian was not ready for the snap… 😒 2017 was a year to remember for a lot of reasons (good as well as bad) so that they may all serve as motivation, inspiration, and a compass for what we know to be right. These two women are my everything. And the duty I have to them as a husband and a father is the greatest responsibility I'll have in my life; I'm honored to bear it. And I know I'll always find new ways to keep making you, laugh, @serenawilliams. 2018 is going to be a phenomenal year. And may there be many, many more to come. Wherever you are in the world tonight, I hope you're with people you love.
