The Golden Child is almost here! Remy Ma and Papoose, aka, the Mackies, decided to celebrate the upcoming arrival of their son or daughter (they are waiting to find out the gender) by having a ’50s-themed soda shop and sock hop baby shower. We’ve seen other stars do a similar type of theme, but the planners behind the rapper’s event really kicked things up a notch. Not only was the venue decorated to look exactly like an old diner (with burgers, fries and shakes), but there were dancers, games, record players, most of the guests were dressed like greasers or in poodle skirts, and the cake was made to look like a classic car. It was very well-done. And the mom-to-be looked stunning in her custom Karen Sabag gown, which was adorned both pink and blue because of the mystery gender of the baby.
All sorts of famous faces (including many Love and Hip Hop New York cast members) came out to celebrate the couple and their bundle of joy. That included Joe Budden and Cyn Santana, Lil Kim, Yandy Smith, JuJu, Safaree, Erica Mena, Fat Joe and more.
The baby is due in December, and as Remy shared, she only has five weeks left in her pregnancy, so it was the perfect time to party.
Remy opened up about her baby shower plans on The Real in October, and at the time, it was all just a colorful idea she had.
“I have all the girls coming who think I’m having a girl because we don’t know, they wear pink poodle skirts. All the girls that think it’s a boy wear blue poodle skirts,” she said. “And if you have no idea, you can just wear red or black. All the guys have to be dressed like greasers in the leather jackets.”
There were a few minor tweaks to that idea, but for the most part, her dream baby shower was executed just as both mom and dad hoped. Check out more images from the ’50s-themed fete by hitting the flip.
