Matt Barnes Awarded Sole Physical And Legal Custody Of Twin Boys
Matt Barnes and his ex-wife Gloria Govan have been going back and forth on social media, in person and in court for years now. But according to TMZ, Barnes recently walked away with a victory in terms of his fight for custody of the couple’s 10-year-old, twin boys.
Barnes was granted sole physical and legal custody of the children and also obtained an 18-month restringing order against Govan, who he claimed is a physical danger to him.
The restraining order, which will be in effect until May 2020, does not extend to the children. The judge believes Govan does not pose a danger to them.
While Barnes will have the boys all the time, Govan was granted regular visitation. She’ll see the boys every other weekend from Friday until Monday morning. She is also allowed to have dinner with them every Wednesday night.
The parents are still in the process of ironing out their custody agreement when it comes to splitting the holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve and Day.
Also during the hearing, the judge ordered that Govan complete 26 sessions of anger management and 10 parenting classes.
This ruling comes as a result of an incident Govan had with Barnes around Labor Day weekend. Barnes claimed she endangered the lives of their sons by flying into a rage and using her car to block Matt and the kids from driving away from their school.
Govan denied the claims and prosecutors eventually decided not to press any criminal charges.
Today, on Instagram, Barnes thanked his legal team for their assistance.
