During the Season 11 premiere of Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kandi Burruss revealed that she had two embryos left from her past IVF experience, and that she and husband Todd Tucker didn’t want to leave them behind. If possible, they wanted to try again to have a baby sooner than later. They currently share son Ace, and she has daughter Riley from a previous relationship, and he has daughter Kaela from another relationship as well. In a recent interview with ESSENCE, the 42-year-old said that things hadn’t gone as planned for the pair in terms of conceiving so far.

“We’re definitely trying to figure out ways to grow our family,” she said. “I know a lot of people thought that meant that I was pregnant. But I’m not pregnant. Let’s be clear. I saw that floating around the internet.”

“Unfortunately, it’s not happening,” she added. “So obviously we’re just going to be talking about what that means for our family.”

Well, in a new interview with Us Weekly, the singer said that she and Tucker made a decision to go the surrogate route to have their next child. And the next child will be a girl based on the embryos left.

“We have girls,” she revealed. “We have two embryos that are still left from when we had Ace. So, we have two embryos left and we know they’re girls.”

“We’ve decided we wanted to … get a surrogate,” she said. “We did find someone, and right now we are in the process — you know it hasn’t been done — but we’re in the process.”

While she is looking forward to trying surrogacy to have another child, she’s also been very nervous about it because she doesn’t know anyone else personally who has gone through it who can offer advice.

“I don’t have anybody I can call up on the phone like, ‘Girl, what happened when you did this or when you did that?’ Like, I don’t have anybody that can tell me,” she said. “When we were going through the IVF process, I did have a couple of friends who had done it, so, you know, I could talk to them, but this is a situation where I don’t have anybody I can talk to.”

But one person who helped from the professional standpoint is her doctor, Dr. Jackie Walters.

“The only person I can talk to about it is my doctor, Dr. Jackie,” she said. “She can talk to it from a doctor’s point of view…but she helped Todd and I find someone.”

And while the family, in general, is excited, Riley is the only one who has reservations, and we had the chance to see a few of them during the premiere.

“Riley’s like, ‘You don’t need to have anymore kids!'” she said. “But she said that when we had Ace, and now she’s in love with Ace!”
