T.I Is Bringing Affordable Housing To Atlanta
After 15 years in hip-hop, T.I is turning his focus to issues that are bigger than music. The Dime Trap rapper told ABC News that he has a mission to bring affordable housing to his beloved hometown of Atlanta.
Tip has collaborated with Dynasty Real Estate Development and APD-Urban Planning and management for the “Buy Back the Block” initiative. His old neighborhood has fell victim to gentrification which has caused prices of homes to soar through the roof. With this initiative, he and his partners will be buying homes and turning them into affordable housing for ATL residents. Nine properties have already been purchased.
The Grand Hustle head is not only focusing on homes. T.I has also partnered with fellow Atlanta rapper Killer Mike to save one of his favorite restaurants. Growing up, Tip and his grandmother were frequent visitors at Bankhead Seafood. Now, under his new project he will be giving it a makeover. The restaurant will be torn down and rebuilt and once it’s back in business, they will be back frying up their fish, which Tip said was “fried to perfection.”
T.I is also returning to reality TV later this month with T.I & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle on VH1. Besides his wife and seven children, the show is welcoming some new castmates: Monica Brown, Antonia “Toya” Wright and Letoya Luckett. T.I & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle is set to premiere October 22nd.
