And Another One: Kevin Hart Lands First-Look Deal For Family-Friendly Content On Nickelodeon
It seems like lately, comedian Kevin Hart just can’t lose. For the past few years it’s seemed like he’s had a leading role in just about every other movie that has come out from starring in Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle next to co-star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to providing a voice in animated features like The Secret Life Of Pets. He’s also currently taking his stand-up across the nation with his Irresponsible tour and taking the few spare seconds he has left in his schedule to star in films like Nightschool next to unofficial little sister who and woman to watch, Tiffany Haddish. May I add the film was a project produced by his own company, Hartbeat Productions and brought in a whopping $27.3 million domestically? There’s also his LOL Network which is the first to bring comedic content to a streaming platform. Recently, the 5’4” comedian just gave industry peers such as Mike Epps and Katt Williams another reason to be big mad.
Variety reports Hart just snagged a first-look deal with the Nickelodeon network. The deal which falls under his own Hartbeat Productions will develop and produce live-action, scripted kids content for the network. Hart who is a father three and a past recipient of several Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards for roles in the films The Secret Life Of Pets and Central Intelligence says the network, which recently came under the leadership of Brian Robbins of Awesomeness TV, is a natural fit for his own brand:
“For me, Nick has always represented everything fun about being a kid, and it’s still at the forefront today of kids’ and family entertainment.”
“I’ve been slimed at Kids’ Choice, won a lot of Orange Blimps and my kids are my very own built-in focus group, so I’m ready to dive in and make some next-level shows with Brian and everyone at Nickelodeon.”
First-look deals are nothing new for the Philadelphia native. Hart already has a deal with Universal Studios. His other projects include “The Next Level” and “Hart of the City” on the Comedy Central network.
Robbins shared he’s excited at what the new partnership will bring to the future of the network:
“I’m excited to inherit this terrific content deal with Kevin Hart just as I step into my new role at Nickelodeon”
“Kevin is an incredible talent whose appeal cuts across practically every age group and every member of the family. He knows how to create unforgettable characters, and I can’t wait for him and HartBeat Productions to focus their creativity on making great new content with us.”
