Fabolous Indicted By Grand Jury In Emily B Assault Case
Fabolous currently faces four felony charges in relation to a domestic violence case involving Emily B, his longtime partner, TMZ reports.
The Brooklyn entertainer, whose real name is John Jackson, was indicted by a New Jersey grand jury last week on 1 count of domestic violence with significant bodily injury, 2 counts of threatening to kill and 1 count of possession of a weapon, a pair of scissors, according to the outlet.
The charges stem from an incident captured on camera from earlier this year. In the disturbing video the rapper is seen having a verbal altercation with Emily B and her father while a third man stands as a barricade between them in the driveway of their home. You can hear the trio arguing while the rapper is seen brandishing a pair of scissors. During the fight he threatens to kill Emily and her family.
On March 7 Emily B claimed Fabolous punched her in the face seven times, forcing her to lose teeth. The driveway incident captured on camera occurred three weeks later, the outlet reports.
If Fabolous is found guilty of the charges he faces five years in prison for each crime. The state of New Jersey classifies the charges as third-degree crimes.
Lawyers for the rapper argued the rapper was not guilty of any crime.
Emily B and Fabolous have been together for over 10 years and share two children, Johan, 10, and Jonas, 3. Emily B has a daughter named Taina Williams, 18, from a previous relationship. Their romance was profiled on the first few seasons of Love & Hip Hop, which showed the highs and lows of their relationship.
The alleged incident again spurred commentary regarding domestic violence, victim blaming and mental health in the Black and brown community.
The news comes as rumors swirl that the couple may have secretly married sometime this summer. Both have been separately spotted sporting diamond rings on their ring fingers.
