If you didn’t catch Marsha Ambrosius and Dez Billups’ interview on MadameNoire last week, you missed out. The singer and her husband’s love for one another radiated far beyond our camera lens, giving us a first-hand glimpse of what Marsha was singing about in her new song “Old Times” from her latest album Nyla.
When we got Marsha alone, we asked her about that song and the video, which also stars her husband, and she told us what sparked the romantic track.
“It was that emotion and that fear of wow, I’m so in love I’m terrified. Anyone that’s really been there knows what that is. Everyone’s like, ‘why you scared?’ Trust me.
“Fear and being afraid are two different things. I don’t fear anything Afraid, concerned? Absolutely. And I think through music is where we’re allowed to wear this armor of strength and bravery and stand up for something. And say enough is enough, I just want love now.”
Looking at Marsha and Dez, it appears she certainly got what she wanted. Check out our full interview with her as she explains the significance of the name “Nyla” and what this latest album means to her.
