10 Experiences You Probably Never Knew You Could Book On Airbnb
For years, Airbnb guests have had the opportunity to connect with hosts through authentic (and often affordable) home listings in 65,000 cities across 191 countries. Now, Airbnb Experiences is offering the same authenticity that you’ve been able to experience connecting with locals, but in a different way. Airbnb Experiences not only show you some of the world’s greatest cities from a “local’s” point of view, but gives the company the ability to invest directly into local communities through rising tourism efforts to make local guides tourism leaders of their communities.
Not quite sure what an Airbnb Experience is? The company lets guests skip the traditional (and often boring) tour guide, and opt for locals who will really show you the beauty of their city/country. Go off the beaten path, and really experience life in these places and spaces. Even better for Black Americans, the Experiences let us tap directly into our African roots in a way that we weren’t before, by experiencing the Africa that they don’t show you on TV. Just recently at Airbnb’s Africa Travel Summit even, the company announced a new report on how the Airbnb platform is promoting travel that is local, diverse, and inclusive in South Africa.
Outside of Africa however, there are all kinds of unique experiences to be had all over world, from making pasta with a local grandmother in her home in Rome, to a Bali healing and holy bathing tour. Sports, music and arts-oriented excursions — you name it, they’ve got it.
