Whenever the topic of domestic violence arises, the first question people often ask is why, as in why did you let this happen or why did you let a man do this to you? The truth is, physical abuse is often the last of many signs of an unhealthy relationship, and when women don’t recognize the other forms of mental and emotional abuse they’re being subjected to, it’s quite easy for things to rapidly progress to physical violence.

To help shed some let on the dangers women face in said relationships and early warning signs we should be on the lookout for, Keyaira Kelly sat down for a conversation with Sheryl Hatwood, President and Founder of Endless Voice Productions LLC. Hatwood is a domestic abuse survivor herself, and in our chat with her she laid out some of the red flags women should be aware of when dating and also the barriers that exist to helping victims get the help they need.
