Young girls and even grown women can never hear enough messages that we are beautiful just as we are. And this weekend Dove is making sure that sentiment is one us ladies never forget with a special Girl Collective summit centered on challenging beauty stereotypes and developing sisterhood that builds confidence.
Powered by the Dove Self-Esteem Project and leading up to International Day of the Girl, 300 women and girls will be a part of Girl Collective happening Saturday, October 6 in Los Angeles. The one-day event will feature a series of panels, masterclasses, and workshops that not only discuss issues we all face concerning representation, gender stereotypes, and beauty identities but also focus on co-creating solutions to combat them.
Tv showrunner Shonda Rhimes is just one of many inspiring women who will be on site, sharing honest and authentic advice about owning and defining your identity. Chloe & Maude of the Syncopated ladies will also be in attendance. What’s great about the summit is the learning won’t stop after the breakout sessions and closing dance party Saturday afternoon, Dove has also created a social media community at Facebook.com/groups/DoveGirlCollective for girls and women who want to connect with one another and get inspired to take action year-round. The group page will be live October 6.
