Evelyn & Towanda Braxton ‘Devastated’ By Tamar’s Molestation Revelation
The Braxton family is dealing with the after effects of Tamar Braxton’s shocking reveal, after admitting to Wendy Williams that she was molested by members of both sides of the family.
TMZ cameras caught up with Braxton’s mom and sister, Evelyn and Towanda, who shared their thoughts and support of Tamar.
“I’m prepared to stand by Tamar’s side no matter what,” Evelyn Braxton said. “You know sometimes you’re concerned about other’s that’s outside the family, and you–because of that, and it happened within the family, that’s devastating.”
While the matriarch says that she has no information on who allegedly violated her daughter, her main concern is Tamar and her peace of mind.
“Can you imagine the devastation for the person that has been dealing with this all of these years?” she asked.
As far as revealing more information in regards to her daughter’s story, Evelyn said that she will let Tamar share her experience when she’s ready.
“If she feels like she wants to tell her story, I don’t care who it is, I’m going to stand by her 100 percent, whether other people understand it or not. Her pain is my pain,” she continued.
Tamar’s sister Towanda also added her viewpoint to the conversation saying that “she has the right to speak her truth,” no matter how long ago the incident occurred–comparing Tamar’s situation to the ongoing sexual harassment allegations regarding Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
“It takes a lot of strength to speak your truth, regardless of who you hurt,” she said.
Towanda also noted that viewers should tune into the season finale with Iyanla Vanzant because the episode encouraged major growth for the family. “When your uncomfortable that means your growing,” she said.
She noted that her sister is doing well and has shown incredible strength throughout the process.
