Saturday Night Live has added another black woman to the cast to stand alongside Leslie Jones. According to CNN, actress Ego Nwodim will be making her debut on the 44th season.

Now I know you’re wondering, this is great for black women in comedy, but who is Ego Nwodim?

Nwodim isn’t new to the small screen. She also appeared on Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Brothers and CBS shows Living Biblically and 2 Broke Girls. This is a major resume boost for comedienne, as this is first role on a major network. Her IMDb page says that she has been acting since 2012.  Nwodim  graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in biology. She has been on her own one-woman show, Great Black Women … and Then There’s Me. She was also a regular cast ember at the UCB Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.

Nwodim revealed that she is joining the cast on her IG page and said she is in New York currently, most likely gearing up for her debut.

“Would you look at God!! Thank you for all the kind messages of support. I love you. I’m already in NY, but I’ll be back in LA soon enough to give all y’all hugs,” she wrote.

Saturday Night Live premieres on September 29th on NBC with Kanye West as the musical guest.
