Drake Sues Woman For Extortion Over Allegedly False Pregnancy & Rape Claims

September 19, 2018  |

Drake recently filed a lawsuit against a woman who reportedly said she was pregnant by the rapper and accused him of rape.

According to TMZ who obtained the filing, the Toronto rapper is suing a woman who goes by the name of Layla Lace for “civil extortion, emotional distress, fraud, defamation, and abuse of process.”

The lawsuit states that he and Lace had consensual sex in February 2017 during a stop on his Boy Meets World Tour in Manchester, England. Drake claims Lace “happily performed oral sex,” before their night was done.

Drake’s lawyer Larry Stein alleges Lace got agitated after a series of text messages to the “Scorpion” rapper went unanswered. The suit shows messages between the two from February to March of 2017. Drake says that Lace fabricated the depths of their relationship and was too busy at certain points to respond to her advances.

In April, Lace posted to Instagram that she was pregnant, but never named the father. “So I guess still in this era this is the new thing that after you tell a dude you pregnant they stop answering they phone!!!,” she wrote. In the filing Lace allegedly threatened to name Drake as the father. She eventually sat down with Sirius Radio on April 20, 2017 to publicly claim that she was pregnant by Drake.

“I’m going to make this clear because I have been asked that before,” Lace began. “I’m a mother already ok. I know who I sleep with unprotected. So it’s 100 percent sure. He knows it, so at the end of the day, I’mma just leave it at that.”

In the interview Lace goes on to say that as soon as she told him she was pregnant the phone calls stopped.

According to the suit, in May 2017 after her interview became public, Lace hired a lawyer and demanded money for her alleged baby and also threatened to sue Drake for defamation after a TMZ article reported the two had never met.

The suit claims that when Drake demanded a paternity test, Lace and her legal team went silent. According to the suit, “There is no credible evidence of pregnancy, nor any baby, which would have been born last Fall.”

After the paternity test drama, Drake claims that Lace resorted to extreme measures and told the NYPD that she was raped by the rapper. The suit says that Lace hired new legal representation and threatened to publicly accuse Drake unless he paid up.
The NYPD passed the case to Manchester authorities who found no basis in Lace’s claims, the suit states. But, according to Drake and his legal team, Lace again asked for millions of dollars in order to keep silent.

According to TMZ, Drake is asking for an unspecified amount in damages.
