Is Michael B. Jordan Our Next Superman?
Michael B. Jordan played the villain in Black Panther, but he may be the next black superhero. After actor Henry Cavill walked away from DC Comics, Warner Bros. is on the prowl for another Superman, and it may be Jordan.
Deadline reports that the L.A native is being considered to take on the role. Unfortunately, that film won’t be beginning production anytime soon because the focus has shifted to Supergirl since Cavill’s departure.
“We have a great relationship and great respect for Henry Cavill that continues to remain unchanged,” a Warner Bros. spokesperson told Deadline. “Additionally we have made no current decisions regarding any upcoming Superman films.”
If he gets the part, it would be adding to his list of roles in superhero films. Besides Marvel Studio’s Black Panther, he also starred in the Fantastic Four flick.
In the meantime, Jordan is gearing up for the release of Creed II, set to hit theaters in November 21st, 2018. The sequel will also star Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, Andre Ward and Wood Harris. Director Steven Caple, Jr. has big shoes to fill with Creed II, as Creed grossed $173.6 million. Jordan will also be serving as executive producer along with Ryan Coogler.
