Secure The Bag: Nicki Minaj Still Owes Geoffrey Owens The $25,000 She Promised Him

September 12, 2018  |

Last Monday, just a few days before the rumble in the New York City jungle, Nicki Minaj pledged she would send actor Geoffrey Owens $25,000 after he was publicly shamed for working at Trader Joe’s.

During her hit Queen Radio show, Minaj gave the “Cocksucker of the Day” award to Karma Lawrence, the woman who snuck to take a picture of Owens during his shift at a New Jersey Trader Joe’s. Soon after she closed the segment, Minaj said she would donate the large chunk of change to Owens and his family.

According to TMZ, “sources familiar with the situation” said they have yet to hear from Minaj or her team. Minaj addressed the difficulties in getting in contact with Owens on the most recent episode of her show, probably towards the end after she addressed the scuffle between her and Cardi B at fashion week.

But, the source said Owens’ team is pretty easy to reach. This all sounds extremely messy.

Owens may not be in desperate need so far and hasn’t asked for any handouts. He will allegedly donate the money to charity if he does come in contact with Minaj’s camp.

The former Cosby Show actor isn’t doing too shabby these days. Even though he stepped down from his job at the grocery store, he just snagged an acting gig on NCIS: New Orleans and will star on Tyler Perry’s The Haves and Have Nots for 10 episodes.

As for Lawrence, her Karma hasn’t been as forgiving. She said she was forced to deactivate her social media because of death threats and harsh words. Lawrence also alleges that she never meant to embarrass Owens by taking the picture and allowing news outlets to use the photo. Sigh.

We’re hoping this is all just a misunderstanding as Minaj is known to donate money to her fans and supporters all the time.
